We study the properties and applications of a family of quantum Renyi divergences, related to classical divergence sphere optimization formulas. Unlike the traditional quantum Renyi divergences and the recently discovered sandwiched Renyi divergences, this family doesn't seem to be directly linked to an operational quantity in quantum information theory, but it appears naturally when adapting classical information-theoretic results to the quantum setting, resulting in suboptimal error exponents. We utilize this family of Renyi divergences to derive the exact strong converse exponents for classical-quantum channel coding.
